Overheating can cost lives. The media coverage is finally helping bring this to the forefront of people attention, such as this article in the NZ Herald that accuses Terraced houses in Auckland of overheating due to poor design.*1

 

Sometimes it can be as simple as opening windows, and sometime it just isn’t. To reduce the risk of overheating in a residential build, there are a number of competing demands to consider: all of which need to be balanced by careful planning and design such as acoustics, daylighting, site orientation, insulation, window operability, etc
